Peaches & nectarines: Italian fruit ripened by the sun and grown by Giraudo

Given that we are now in the peach and nectarine season, we would like to introduce our Italian producer, Massimiliano Giraudo. The Giraudo farm is located near Lagnasco in Piedmont in northern Italy. The Giraudo family has been growing fruit for 50 years – the business has been growing to organic principles since 1998. Today the business is managed by the oldest son in the family, Massimiliano.

Organic peaches, nectarines, apples and pears are grown on 115 or so hectares. The fertile soils in the plain tract bordering the Alps create ideal conditions. A second farm with about 38 hectares is situated in Latina in central Italy. There the Giraudos grow kiwis. At present the nectarine and peach season is in full swing and will last until about the end of September.

All fruit is processed and packed in the farm’s own modern packing station, providing plenty of room in its generous 4,000 m² space.

"My objective is to produce tasty organic varieties of fruit" says Massimiliano. This is why the Giraudos have adopted and applied the principles of organic farming efficiently in combination with modern production and storage systems.
