China – Good start to the ginger harvest

A hot cup of ginger tea is a blessing especially on cold days. How good then that the harvest has begun this month at our Chinese suppliers.

The fields are situated in Dalian and Weifang in North-East China. Based on the climatic conditions, the ginger grows there for between 6 and 8 months before it is harvested by hand.

After a certain storage period, the bulbs are packed and brought to the port of Rotterdam by ship. The ginger is on the move for four weeks before it is ready for sale.

China is currently the worlds largest exporter of ginger.
