More than 50 committed BioTropic staff around the world ensure that the consumer is provided with high quality organic fruit and vegetables. Our agricultural engineers are readily available to provide advice and conduct checks, and also ensure that the products are regularly examined in accredited laboratories.
The closer the importer is to the region where the products are grown, the more easily he can check that the cultivation methods meet the EU standards for organic agriculture. That is why BioTropic has its own agencies in different countries and we employ several agricultural engineers who are deployed around the world. They visit and inspect the farms, discuss cultivation problems and take soil, leaf and product samples. These are tested regularly by accredited laboratories.
In Duisburg, our quality management team keep a sharp eye on the fruits and vegetables that are delivered: Our goal is to thoroughly scrutinize every product and every variety at least once per year.
In this, we primarily focus on products that can cause problems in the cultivation stage. Part of the analysis is done with the ‚BNN monitoring‘ – a systematic check of organic fruits and vegetables for contamination with pesticide, that various companies in the natural foods industry take part in.
Quality can be measured. BioTropic meets all the important standards for the organic and business sectors: we are IFS (International Featured Standards) and organic certified (BCS eco control office), a member of the Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren e.V. (BNN – National Association of Organic Processors, Wholesalers and Retailers) as well as a recognised Demeter and Naturland contract wholesaler.
To able to guarantee that standards are being met, as well as the communication with consumers, are prerequisites for the promotion of a healthy environment and responsible nutrition.
